Welcome to Ravin ("the App" or "we"). The App is operated by an individual developer. We act as the data controller for your personal data. We take your privacy seriously and comply with applicable data protection laws globally, including the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, California CCPA, and other regulations. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information, and what rights you have.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the personal data necessary to provide our services, in accordance with the principle of data minimization.
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you use "Sign in with Apple," we may receive a user identifier, email (if you choose to share), and name (if you choose to share) from Apple. We do not store your Apple password.
- Memories and Content: Memories, notes, to-dos, mood check-ins, and other content you record via voice, text, or images.
- Profile Information: Nickname, avatar, and preferences (e.g., theme, language, reminder times) that you set.
1.2 Device and Usage Information
- Device Identifier: We generate a device ID locally for sync and device recognition, and may sync it across your authorized devices via iCloud.
- Usage Data: We do not use any third-party analytics or crash reporting services. Your personal memory content is not used for analytics or statistics.
1.3 Data Related to System Permissions
Depending on the permissions you grant, we may access:
- Microphone: For voice recording and real-time transcription.
- Camera and Photo Library: For taking or selecting images as memory attachments.
- Health Data (HealthKit): Health data is sensitive personal data. Only after you give explicit consent and authorize, we read and write "State of Mind" and related health data to sync your mood records and better analyze your emotions. We do not use health data for advertising or share it with third parties.
- Local Notifications: For reminders such as mood check-ins or to-dos.
- iCloud: To sync memories and settings across your authorized Apple devices.
2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
For users in the EEA, UK, and other jurisdictions requiring a legal basis:
- Contract performance: Providing core features, sync and backup, subscriptions and payments.
- Consent: Health data, community publishing, and optional features.
- Legitimate interests: Product improvement in anonymized form, where applicable.
- Legal obligation: Where required by law.
We do not sell your personal information (as defined under CCPA and similar laws).
3. How We Use Your Information
- Core Features: Your voice, text, and images are sent only to our servers (api.ravin.life); our backend then calls AI services (including Google Gemini) to process them and generate summaries, tags, diaries, and to provide AI assistant, Knowledge Galaxy, mood analysis, and related features. Your raw content is not sent directly to third parties by you.
- Sync and Backup: Sync data across your devices via iCloud; you can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings.
- Community Features: If you choose to publish a memory to the community, we will display the title, summary, highlight sentence, and mood tags as you select; other users will not see your full diary content. Community posts are manually reviewed.
- Subscriptions and Payments: Process subscriptions and restore purchases via RevenueCat; we do not store your payment card information.
- Product Improvement: Analyze usage in an anonymized manner to improve experience and fix issues.
4. Data Storage, Security, and International Transfers
- Local-First: Your memories and personal data are primarily stored on your device.
- iCloud Sync: If enabled, data is stored in your iCloud account and protected by Apple's encryption and security policies.
- Servers: Some data is transmitted encrypted to our servers (api.ravin.life) located in the United States. We use industry-standard measures to protect data.
- International Transfers: If you are in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction that restricts cross-border transfers, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries. We implement appropriate safeguards, including where applicable Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission or UK authorities.
- Data Retention: After you delete your account, we will complete data deletion and backup cleanup within 6 months.
- Third-Party Services: Apple (sign-in, iCloud, payments), Google (Gemini) for AI processing, RevenueCat (subscription management), Unsplash (optional cover images). We do not use any third-party advertising SDKs.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only with your consent, to comply with legal requirements, or with service providers bound by contract.
